Weekend Shows to Catch
It’s just the right time of year to take a leisurely drive up north and catch a couple of good shows after the Farmer’s Market

Close to home is a show of recent work by Elizabeth MacDonald at the New Arts Gallery in Litchfield, CT. A painter in clay, MacDonald's art is a poetic fusion of earth and sky both in color and material. Her work transforms crusted fragments of ceramic into ethereal compositions of pastoral light . A poetic sense of history is evoked through the muted patina of her fired and painted surfaces.
The space at New Arts is exceptional and especially fitting for this artist's work. A reception for the artist will be held from 3-6PM this coming Saturday.

A bit further up the road, but definitely worth the drive, is an exhibition of Ann Getsinger's new work.
Ann Getsinger, a former Watertown resident who spent her youth at the edge of Gustafson’s Farm, will be showing new paintings at Lauren Clark Fine Art in Housatonic, Massachusetts. Ann's finely crafted still life narratives reflect her reverence for the natural world in works that are, at times, a mixture of the mysterious and sophisticated whimsy. A definite treat to see in person!
The “Sky Slice and The Pedestal Series” opening reception is on Saturday, October 8 from 4-7pm.
